S.S. Toddings Sr.

S.S. Toddings Sr. was the most prominent newsman of his generation.  Born in St. David’s and a lifelong resident of St. George’s he served in the House of Assembly and on the Corporation of St. George’s.  Toddings was known for his fearlessness and progressive views.  But one aspect of his life remained under wraps during his lifetime – his black ancestry.  Recent research has revealed that his mother and grandmother were former slaves.
