Burnt Point Fort (Ferry Point Battery)
Burnt Point Fort was built in 1687 to defend the ferry which connected St. George’s Island to the main island of Bermuda. Located on a small peninsula jutting into the channel between Ferry Point and Coney Island, the half-moon shaped fort was originally described as having nine embrasure for eight mounted guns, but a century later was mostly in ruins, worsened when a cannon exploded in the fort after firing a salute.
Also known as Ferry Point Battery, the fort was repaired by Major Andrew Durnford in the 1790s when the embrasures of Bermuda stone were increased in size, and five larger-caliber guns installed.

Ferry Island Fort
Ferry Island Fort is located on the western point of Ferry Reach and accessed by a small footbridge onto the island. The circular fort was built in the 1790s and its structure and layout was changed in the 1870s, when it was rebuilt with emplacements for four larger guns.
