The St. George’s Foundation and The St. George’s Historical Society received the DeForest (Shorty) Trimingham Award for rescuing a series of six murals painted by Emile Verpilleux.

The paintings had originally hung in the St. George’s Town Hall, but were badly damaged by Hurricane Fabian in 2003.  With the combined efforts of the Foundation and the Historical Society, they were able to raise funds for the restoration of these murals.

These murals are now hanging at The St. George’s Foundation Heritage Centre (Penno’s Wharf) and can be viewed by the public.
